To celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities Runnymede Borough Council work in partnership with Achieve Lifestyle to launch the I Am Able Festival, a day full of inclusive sports and activities for adults.
The inaugural I am Able Festival took place on December 3 to mark International Day of Person's with Disabilities.
The free and inclusive sporting event was run by Runnymede Borough Council in partnership with Achieve Lifestyle in Egham.
The festival was filled to capacity prompting organisers to push for it to become an annual event.
More than 50 people took part in a wide range of sports and activities such as cage cricket, football by Abbey Rangers, community golf, table tennis, curling, board games and a stretch and fitness session.
The aim of the day was to encourage everyone to get active, try something new and socialise with others.
Participants also received a goody bag filled with the generous donations from Tesco, London Irish, Chelsea Football Club and Surrey Cricket.
Chloe Alexander, Community Development Apprentice, said: "I was so excited that we had the opportunity to run the I Am Able Festival.
"We reached full capacity and all the hard work paid off and it was great to see everybody taking part and enjoying themselves.
"I already cannot wait to for the the next I Am Able Festival which I am sure will be another huge success."
Felipe Goncalves, Get Active Coordinator, said: "We set a target of 30 people and on the day we had more than 50 which was great.
"We had six different activities planned but we even had to add an extra one there were so many people.
"We had four people in wheelchairs and they enjoyed the cricket and the community golf.
"As we get the new centre open we want to have as many inclusive activates as possible."
Felipe was particularly looking forward to the possibilities the new pool, and its movable floor, would bring as it would make it it accessible for wheelchair users.
