Runnymede 2035 Local Plan (Emerging)

The Local Plan will eventually replace the current 2001 Local Plan as the principal guide to future development in Runnymede up until 2035.

The Council has produced a document that summarises the representations made during the Issues, Options and Preferred Approaches consultation and also provides officers responses. A document has also been produced that summarises the methods of public engagement used during the Issues, Options and Preferred Approaches consultation. These documents can be found on the Issues, Options and Preferred Approaches Representations Page and the Issues, Options and Preferred Approaches Consultation Page.

The Council is carrying out further work in respect of reviewing the Green Belt as part of developing the Council's new Local Plan.  More information can be found on the Green Belt Review page.

pdf icon Local Plan E-Newsletter [1Mb] has now been produced which includes up-to-date information about what the Planning Policy and Strategy team has been working on since the Issues, Options and Preferred Approaches consultation, and what the team will be continuing to work on over the next few months.

For the latest news keep an eye on the Local Plan update reports which are reported to every Planning Committee meeting and which provide an update on the progress made with the preparation of the Local Plan. The Local Plan update is reported to committee every three weeks. Committee reports will be available on the Council's website one week before a Committee meeting is held on the Forthcoming Committee - Agendas page and all reports can be found on the Planning Committee - agendas page.

New Local Plan (Emerging)

Runnymede Borough Council is preparing a new Local Plan, to be known as 'Runnymede 2035'. The Local Plan will be the document that sets out the amount of development expected to come forward in the Borough over the next 20 years and where this should be located. This includes the level of housing, employment and retail development, as well as the approach to be taken to the Green Belt. The Local Plan will also allocated specific sites in the Borough for development.
