Egham Town Centre

In January 2015, a new development containing a Waitrose supermarket, Travel Lodge and basement car park is set to open within Egham. To build on the interest in the town created by this scheme, the Council alongside Surrey County Council also commissioned in 2013 a master plan for , setting out a new vision for the heart of the town.

Egham Town Team

Following a successful bid to the Government's Portas Pilot Town initiative, Egham Town Team was established in 2014. Its agreed terms of reference are: "To revitalise the town centre and strengthen community pride in the town by building on Egham's heritage, location and educational links."

The team brings together groups and individuals with an interest in the town centre, including representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, retailers, the Egham Residents' Association, Royal Holloway, Strode's College, Magna Carta School and the Council.

The team is working on a package of measures to persuade people to shop locally, improve the environment in the town centre and develop further events/activities in the town, especially around the Magna Carta commemorations to be held in 2015.
