A hate crime is a criminal act which is perceived, by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by a person's
- disability
- race or ethnicity
- religion or belief
- sexual orientation
- transgender identity
If you or anyone is affected by a hate crime you should report it.
Instances can be reported to Surrey Police on 101 or in instances of imminent danger, dial 999 and seek immediate support.
For those who do not wish to speak to the police there are other agencies or organisations that victims of hate crime can turn to

- Citizen Advice Bureau
- Call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
