Types of tenancy fraud
The aim of this policy is to set out the Council’s approach to preventing, identifying and addressing tenancy fraud including:
- Falsely claiming to be a single person
- Falsely claiming to be on a low income
- Subletting the property without the Council’s permission, including a family member
- Obtaining housing by deception
- Unlawful subletting
- Wrongly claimed succession
- Unauthorised assignment
- Key selling
- Not living in the property as a principal home
