Timeline

The timeline below illustrates the key project stages and points at which you can be involved.

January 2024 to September 2024

Agreeing on the geographical area to be covered by the code and the policy areas it will address.

January 2024 to August 2024

Collecting the views and ideas of Runnymede’s development management team and officers from other service areas on the design issues affecting the Borough, drawing on lessons learnt from implementing the existing Design SPD.

May 2024 to September 2024

Bringing together our analysis of the area that will inform the code and its contents. The analysis and results of the scoping exercise and baseline analysis will be used to inform the design code vision, and how the Borough will be divided up into Area Types (or zones).

October 2024

Collecting views and ideas of Runnymede residents and other stakeholders on the design issues affecting the Borough via surveys and workshops, including what people do and don’t like about new development.

Winter 2024

Dividing the area covered by the code into a set of typical ‘Area Types’ (zones) and deciding on a vision for each of these area types, and an overarching vision.

Winter 2024

Developing an overarching Design Vision, preparing a plan that maps out the Area Types and setting a design objective for each.

January 2025 to May 2025

Developing guidance for each area type by proposing a set of design parameters and a set of design principles that will apply equally across all Area Types. Draft code undergoes peer review and testing.

June 2025 - July 2025

Consulting the public on the work done up to this point and getting feedback to help shape the final design code.

August 2025 - September 2025

Revising the final code, with final peer review and testing.
