Dozens of people who give their time to improve the local community, or who excel in sports and the arts have been celebrated at the inaugural Runnymede Civic Awards.

On Wednesday, 22 February 2023 we held our first Runnymede Civic Awards, where we were honoured to celebrate some of our most talented, determined and extraordinary individuals and groups in Runnymede. Congratulations to all those who won awards or received highly commended certificates

The event took place at Foxhills Golf and Country Club in Ottershaw and over 150 people attended including. They were thanked and praised by the Mayor of Runnymede, Cllr Margaret Harnden, Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux, High Sheriff of Surrey, Christopher Critchlow, Dr Ben Spencer MP for Runnymede and Weybridge, Leader of Runnymede Borough Council, Cllr Tom Gracey and Chief Executive Officer Paul Turrell.

We received nearly 80 nominations and the judges had the very difficult task of narrowing it down to the 40 local people and organisations who were short-listed and invited to attend the ceremony.

These awards gave Runnymede Borough Council the chance to shine a light on those who are making a difference, inspiring others, and showing real passion and talent in our community.
