Remembrance Services in Runnymede

On Sunday 10 November, local communities are invited to gather and pay their respects at the following events:

• St Peter’s Church, Chertsey: A Remembrance Service will take place at 10.30am.
• St Paul’s Church, Addlestone: The day will begin at 9.30am with an Act of Remembrance at Victory Park memorial gates on the Chertsey Road side, where wreaths will be laid. This will be followed by a full uniformed parade to St Paul’s Church from 9.45am to 10.15am, with a Service of Remembrance from 10.15am to 11.15am.
• St John’s Church, Egham: The Remembrance Service will begin at 10am. A parade will leave Waspe Farm Car Park at 9.40am and proceed to the church.

The Mayor, Cllr Elaine Gill, and Co-Leader Cllr Linda Gillham will attend the Service of Remembrance at the Runnymede Air Forces Memorial. The Mayor and other councillors will also join services across the borough throughout the weekend.

To support attendance at these important events, free parking will be available in all Council-owned car parks from 8am to 1pm on Sunday.

Armistice Day – Monday, 11 November

On Monday, 11 November, St Peter’s Church in Chertsey will hold a short service and wreath-laying at the Chertsey War Memorial. The gathering will begin at 10.45am and will be attended by the Mayor.

Runnymede Borough Council are proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and recently secured the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, demonstrating our commitment to those who serve and have served in the armed forces. This reflects our dedication to honouring the sacrifices of previous generations and ensuring that their bravery is never forgotten.

Our staff and visitors to the Civic Centre will be able to take part in a two-minute silence at 11am on the day.
