Let the festivities begin!

Addlestone's Christmas lights will be switched on by the Mayor at 4.15pm on Saturday 30 November!

Christmas is arriving in Runnymede with trees being put up and celebrations taking place across the borough.

Addlestone

The Council will be bringing the most glamourous tree yet to the town centre with the grand switch on of a 16ft tall artificial tree taking place at 4.15pm on Saturday 30 November. The Mayor of Runnymede, Cllr Elaine Gill, will be leading the countdown during the town’s Winter Market event.

During the day there will be a craft market at the Addlestone Centre in Garfield Road and a food market outside the Civic Centre in Station Road.

The tree will be next to KickX and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the entertainment and maerkets from 11am onwards.

On 5 December a tree will be lit up by the Mayor in the Civic Centre on Station Road at 10.50am. This is timed to align with the library’s Rhyme Time session for young children. A small number of presents will be available under the tree.

Chertsey

We're pleased to say the Windsor Street Advent Windows will be running again this year. Now in it's fourth year, 24 residents and businesses have come together to decorate one of their windows for each night of Advent. From 1 December to Christmas Eve, at 6pm each evening a new window will be lit up. This event is co-ordinated by Chertsey Museum, which is run by the Council.

Chertsey Goose Fair, which is not organised by the Council but is a great local event, takes place on Saturday 7 December.

Egham

For the first time, a tree will be erected in Egham town centre, at Magna Square, which will be lit up at 5.30pm on Friday 6 December by the Mayor.

The Council has organised this artificial tree, working with local councillors and Egham Residents Association.

Egham Town Band will be performing shortly before and after the switching-on of the lights and presents will be given out to children who visit, thanks to funding from local business Groundworks95. Liberto Lounge will also be providing mince pies, so grab them before they go!

On 14 December the Christmas Fair will take place in Egham High Street, from 10am to 4pm. The Council is not organising this event but we're told to expecting a range of stalls selling food, drinks and gifts and a Santa’s Grotto, carol singing and fairground rides. Additionally, Egham Fantasy Traders will be holding a Craft and Artisan Fair in the Literary Institute, which will include workshops run by local artists and hobby enthusiasts. A day not to be missed!
