Getting a tattoo?

Don't see the tattooist on the list? Contact us in confidence as they may be operating illegally putting you and others at risk of infection. 

Under 18? Its against the law to tattoo anyone under 18, even with parental permission a tattooist is liable to prosecution under the Police enforced Tattooing of Minors Act 1969.

Applying for a skin piercing registration?

Your businesses and premises must be registered with us if you carry out any of the following:

  • tattooing
  • semi-permanent skin colouring or micro-pigmentation
  • cosmetic piercing
  • electrolysis
  • ear piercing
  • acupuncture

Tattooing, electrolysis and ear piercing applications

Each business (each self employed person or each employer) and each premises must be registered.

Acupuncture applications

You must register each practitioner and the premises from which you will operate.
