The Council promises to:

• Keep residents informed of safety measures and maintenance schedules.
• Provide opportunities for resident participation in safety-related decision-making.
• Establish clear communication channels and feedback mechanisms.
• Ensure accessible and understandable safety information for all residents.

By working together, we aim to cultivate a safer living environment where residents are confident about the safety of their homes and empowered to voice concerns or suggestions.

Our Responsibilities

The Council is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the safety of Surrey Towers through regular inspections, maintenance, and effective communication. Key responsibilities include:

• Building Maintenance: Conducting routine repairs, fire door inspections, and ensuring smoke alarms and fire systems function effectively.
• Compliance Testing: Performing independent fire risk assessments and structural evaluations.
• Resident Support: Offering advice and assistance through dedicated staff such as the Compliance Team and Customer Services.
• Emergency Preparedness: Developing and maintaining residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) for vulnerable residents.

Residents also share responsibility for safety by following fire guidelines, reporting hazards, and allowing access to their flats for safety inspections. This collaborative effort ensures that everyone plays a role in maintaining a secure environment.
