There is so much beauty in Runnymede, and to ensure it stays this way for future generations, communities need to work together to protect nature and tackle climate change.
In June, Runnymede Borough Council supported the Big Green Week – the UKs biggest celebration of community action to protect the planet.
A range of activities for residents included litter picks, kids crafts activities, learning more about bees and accessing community fridges to help tackle food waste.
The Council has also taken steps to reduce carbon emissions.
Action includes:
- installing solar panels on council buildings
- using electric vans or converting Council vehicles to run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil
- secured £1.25m to fund measures so all by 2030 Council Housing will have a minimum EPC rating of C
