Views on housing concerns

Councils have a legal duty to review homelessness in their areas and plan their response.

We want to involve local people in our review so we emailed Council tenants and people living in temporary accommodation.

We received 73 responses to the questionnaire, and 56 people left comments.

Here is what we learnt:

Top concerns:

  1. Private rent is expensive.
  2. Not enough social housing
  3. The impact housing issues has on mental health
  4. Not knowing where to access housing support
  5. Comments included suggestions that the Council provides a more individual response to people seeking housing help.

These views will help us develop a new Homelessness Strategy, setting out how we will work with partner organisations to tackle homelessness in the Borough and to support people in housing crisis.
