We are the street naming and numbering authority for the area. We carry out these functions under the provisions of section 17-29 of the Public Health Act 1925.
We can only process a request to change the address of a property from the owner or their appointed agent. We cannot take requests from prospective owners before the exchange of contracts have taken place, nor can we accept requests from tenants.
The Royal Mail has a policy that does not allow properties within the same postcode area to have the same or a similar name to an existing property name. We recommend that you provide us with a list of three names in order of preference for the Royal Mail and Runnymede Borough Council to approve. This will reduce delays in case your preferred choice is not acceptable.
Once the name has been approved, we will then write to you of this fact and also circulate the new address details to a list of essential service providers.
The council will use any information provided by the customer for the sole purposes of street naming in compliance with the Data Protection Laws. For further details on how your personal information will be used and your data subject rights please see our privacy statement webpage.
More information about how we process payments can be found on our payment help page.
The Council take your privacy seriously.
We hold and process all personal information in line with data protection legislation.
