New build properties
If you have purchased a property, started a tenancy or have moved in, you will need to register with us.
Banding your property is the responsibility of the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and once reported, it can take time for your property to be given a band.
To avoid getting a larger bill once your property is officially banded, you can start to make payment should you choose to. However, it is up to you how much you would like to pay whilst we await the banding.
You will need your Council Tax account reference number to make payment and therefore if you have informed us of the new build property you are moving into or have already moved to but have not received a letter from us confirming your Council Tax account number, please get in touch.
Once the banding has been confirmed, you will receive a Council Tax bill that details how much you must pay according to how your property has been banded. The amount due will be from the date you became liable and therefore will be pro-rata if applicable as Council Tax is a daily charge.
You can take a look at our current Council Tax bands to get an idea of how much you may want to start paying.
