Free Park Tennis Activators Needed!

Free parks tennis

We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our volunteer “Free Park Tennis Activators” and support the LTA in growing tennis across Runnymede. Free Park Tennis Activators will access online training which will enable them to be part of a team delivering weekly sessions on a Saturday or Sunday morning at 10.00-11.00am in Runnymede.

Local parks are the most popular tennis venue for more casual players, but there are still many barriers that stop people playing: not having people to play with, not knowing where local park courts are or how to book them, not having equipment, and not being able or wanting to pay for tennis activity. Free Park Tennis sessions provide a solution to these barriers, enabling families, groups and individuals to find, book and play tennis for free, borrow equipment and meet new people to play against, all in a fun and friendly volunteer led session! Free Park Tennis Activator will work with Runnymede Borough Council to deliver on court sessions that are great fun and engaging to the local community.

The benefits of being an activator are:

  • Be part of a team of activators who will deliver free tennis sessions in your local area benefiting members of your community.
  • Opportunity to create healthier and happier people, and to spark a lifelong passion for sport.
  • Free online training course provides all the knowledge and skills you will need, plus shadowing opportunities to learn from other Activators or coaches.
  • Learn new skills.
  • Give back to your local community and become a leader within it.
  • Develop your own confidence, boost self-esteem and life satisfaction.
  • Help develop a strong tennis community in your local park.
  • Increase job prospects and employability.
  • Have great fun whilst playing and empowering others to play a sport.
  • Receive a Free Park Tennis hoodie once online training is complete
  • A great opportunity for the family to play and be active together while you volunteer.

  • Each session requires two Free Park Tennis Activators to deliver it, most venues will utilise a team of 4+ activators to deliver sessions each week. Collaborate with other activators for successful lesson delivery.
  • To complete session registers using a booking app that can be downloaded on to your phone or other device.
  • To collect tennis equipment in after the session. Facilitate communications with programme participants and encourage others to volunteer.
