Runnymede Borough Council is the Licensing Authority under the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 (the ‘Act’), as such it is responsible for the administration and enforcement of Premises Licenses and Permits under the Act.
Under the Act the Local Authority must prepare a written Statement of Licensing Policy, which sets out how the Council will carry out its licensing functions with a view to promoting the licensing objectives.
The Act requires the Council to review our Statement of Licensing Policy every three years.
A draft Statement of Licensing Policy for the period 31 January 2025 to 30 January 2028 has been prepared and can be viewed below;

The revisions to the Policy have been prepared in accordance with the Gambling Commissions Guidance to Licensing Authorities.
The consultation period will be 8 weeks - Wednesday 13 November 2024 until Tuesday 7 January 2025 (closing 5pm). Hard copies of all documentation are also available to view at all Runnymede Libraries.
The Council’s Regulatory Committee will meet again in January 2025 to decide on the matter and your views are a key factor in the decision-making process.
