Timeline for delivery
Following a significant period of planning and refinement of the scheme design, construction of the A320 highway improvements is now ready to commence.
A detailed programme for construction of the A320 improvements is currently being developed with Surrey County Council’s contractor, John Graham Construction Ltd. Once finalised, the details will be available for all to view via the Contractor's dedicated works website. The programme will be continuously reviewed and subject to change throughout the course of the works.
As the project progresses, additional details concerning location and type of works, both immediate and longer-term, will be uploaded. Surrey County Council has advised that additional details will be sent to those residents and businesses particularly impacted by the works, in advance of each phase.
Enabling works
Initial enabling works will be undertaken in advance of the main construction, including both initial site surveys and general site clearance works; additionally during this phase the contractor will mobilise their team and establish the site compound.
Surrey County Council expects the early enabling works to commence in late February 2025, at the roundabout of Guildford Road with St Peters Way and, eastwards along St Peters Way East towards the M25 junction 11.
Main construction
The enabling works in February 2025 will be followed by the commencement of the main works at the above location from mid-March. Surrey County Council currently expect this initial main construction phase to be complete late summer / early autumn 2025. The next phase of works in the autumn will see works commence at the Green Lane/Holloway Hill junction.
Works programme updates and traffic management information for each phase will be shared on the construction website. Overall there will be roadworks on the A320 between Chertsey and Ottershaw from next week until summer 2026.
