Living Well Week 2024 Update
Living Well Week was a great success this year, with 1,097 residents aged 55+ participating in 84 activities we organised across the borough. Earlier this month, we showcased activities designed to improve physical and mental well-being through partnerships with local leisure providers and community groups. Thank you to:
- Achieve Lifestyle Egham Orbit
- COCO Primary Care Network
- Egham Indoors Bowls Club
- Eileen Tozer Social Centre
- Holme Farm Allotment Activities
- Manor Farm Social Centre
- Runnymede Walk with U3A
- St Peter’s Church
- The River Bourne Club
- The Woodham and New Haw Social Centre
At Runnymede, we understand the importance of removing barriers to exercise and physical activity. One of the key features of our Health and Wellbeing Strategy is to create an environment locally where people can live healthy lives. We do this through the facilities we provide and the activities we arrange.
This year we offered something for everyone, either free or at low cost. Activities included OTAGO sessions to improve strength and balance, swimming to ease joint movement, and fun options like allotment tours, bingo and seated exercises.
With a 33% increase in participation, we’re excited to keep this momentum going. We’re asking residents to share their thoughts and ideas on how we can further improve physical activity opportunities in the borough. Complete our short survey to get involved.
