Learning and development
At Runnymede Borough Council we assist your learning and development to enable you to perform at your best and achieve your potential.
Learning
Learning activities to support your role or your service are provided on IT systems, equipment and processes, as well as to enhance your soft skills such as
- Regular 1-2-1 ‘s with your manager, quarterly and end of year appraisals
- We have a management development programme
- Apprenticeship opportunities
- Opportunity to join working groups
- Access to a learning portal where there is an opportunity to request to attend training courses relevant to your role
Performance and development
Performance and Development Reviews with line managers are used to identify your aspirations, and personal and professional development needs, with plans agreed to reach these. Managers also participate in learning activities that build their knowledge and skills, so that they can be effective leaders of their teams.
We consider apprenticeships to be a vital tool in the upskilling of employees, supporting them with their development. We offer apprenticeships in all areas of the council.
We strive to make apprenticeship opportunities available to all employees and also offer short courses in a variety of topics. These build on an individual’s existing knowledge to benefit them both personally and on their chosen career path. We are also proud to offer a number of internal Grow our Own schemes via apprenticeships to create clear progression paths in particular service areas within the council.
