For schools

Schools have an essential role to play in the response to climate change and protecting the natural environment, both through their own decarbonisation efforts and in educating future generations on sustainability topics.
There are many ways in which schools can do this and these are just a few of the options available to support schools in their green ambitions.

Creating more energy efficient schools

Energy Sparks is a registered charity that provides a school-specific energy management tool and education programme to help climate change action. With over 800 schools using Energy Sparks, they have a wide range of information, activities, and resources to suit the needs of individual schools. Find out more on their website.

There are also free resources available from the Energy Saving Trust as part of their ‘Energy Saving Schools Challenge’ campaign. Over five lessons, students explore what energy use is and how, through renewable energy, low carbon transport, and home energy efficiency, it can play an important role in reducing emissions. To find out more and access the lesson materials, check out their pages.
