Get free trees
The Woodland Trust make available tree packs for schools to ensure that everybody in the UK has the chance to plant a tree. They also provide ‘Trees Tools for Schools’ which includes planting advice and interactive activities on how to plan, plant, and care for your free trees pack. To find out more, visit their pages.
Beyond tree planting, there are lots of other things schools can do outside to create a more sustainable environment and instil a love of nature in students. This could be anything from a wildlife garden to a food growing area. These resources from Grow Veg and the Royal Horticultural Society can help you work out what best fits with your school and how to get started:
If you want to have students get creative in their support for biodiversity, take a look at these instructional videos from the WWT which includes information on how to make a mini pond, bird feeder, and bug hotel.
